Dieting On Vacation…DON’T

The thought of going on vacation can stress some out. It can make people fear that all of their progress is going to be thrown out the window. I’m here to tell you, that’s not the case.

Consistency is key in a successful lifestyle change. One week of vacation won’t derail your months or years of consistency. It is when you are over-indulging on a consistent basis that your progress will stall.

I just returned home from my honeymoon in Jamaica a week ago. I didn’t count my macros while I was there, I ate what looked appetizing to me and stopped eating when i was full. I had a few alcoholic drinks, and I enjoyed myself. Did I gain 10 pounds over a week? NO! I didn’t gain anything. I also didn’t go on a binge because of an open buffet either.

What I loved about Sandals was how accommodating they were of a healthy lifestyle. Their menus feature a few options for “balanced lifestyle,” which were lower calorie/ healthier prepared options. Every meal I tried was amazing! The food was so filling and you truly get a taste of the island. They also work with any food allergies or sensitivities you may have and your server makes sure to ask before every meal.

I personally don’t consume dairy. It doesn’t agree well with my body so I try to avoid it. I asked for no cheese on several of my dishes and Sandal’s got my order right every time. They were also amazing at subbing all of the fish in a pasta dish for grilled chicken. If you ask nicely, 9 times out of 10 your server will help you without an issue.

While on vacation I ate egg white omelets with veggies and grilled fish, but I also had bread, burgers, pasta and to die for frozen drinks. I can honestly say I completely enjoyed my vacation. Don’t waste memories and moments being scared of food. Food is your friend and fuel, plus it helps make amazing memories with wonderful people.
