Travel Diaries: Key West Edition, Part One.

I just returned a few days ago from my bachelorette party in Key West! It’s such a beautiful island filled with charm. Unfortunately it rained everyday except the day we were checking out but we were still able to enjoy some of Key West to our best ability.


We stayed in a three bedroom, three level villa at Parrot Key Resort. The location was a 7/10. We were close enough to Duval Street that we could get there by taxi and right across the road from shopping centers. The downfall of being off Duval is the $18 cab ride for a 7 minute drive.

Our hotel was beautiful. It was equipped with four pools, a private beach with chairs and hammocks, an outdoors cafe, and a shuttle. Our room even had three decks, one that opened onto the pool and a Keurig…what can I say, it was a group of girls with a serious caffeine addiction.

The food at the hotel was also pretty good. I ate a greek chicken wrap and a greek omelette with chicken sausage from the cafe and I can honestly say I enjoyed both.


Travel can always be tough on your goals. I have 3 weeks until my wedding, but wanted to live a little. I did not count macros or go to the gym while I was on vacation. I wanted to enjoy myself, be in the moment, and live. In the same breath, I am not a binger. I still like to fill my body with wholesome foods.

Day one:

Breakfast: 2 Vans Blueberry waffles with sugar-free syrup. I was home for breakfast and wanted waffles, so waffles it was.

Snack: A Venti coconut cold brew and a banana bread Quest bar.

Lunch: Greek chicken wrap and a side salad.

Dinner: Half of an over-priced hot dog before going on a pub crawl. I don’t suggest eating this little before drinking or ever, but we were crunched on time.

Day Two:

Breakfast: Egg white scramble with asparagus, bell peppers, mushrooms & a side of whole wheat toast (no butter) and potatoes. We ventured out in a monsoon to Southernmost Point Beach Cafe. The breakfast was amazing!


Snack: Chocolate Coconut RX bar & an apple.

Lunch: Steamed chicken and veggies + pretzels and hummus. We ordered in delivery and I was battling a 24 hour stomach bug so plain and simple it was.

Snack: 100 cal bag of Walnuts & Almonds.

Dinner: Sauteed Mahi-Mahi with asparagus & cuban black beans. For this meal we went to Blackfin Bistro and I have to say it was one of the best meals i’ve ever had. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone! I also tried my friends crab cakes and they were delicious!

Day Three:

Snack: Love Grown cinnamon apple hot oats.

Breakfast: Greek omelette with chicken sausage and wheat toast. I subbed out whole eggs for egg whites. Never be shy to ask your waiter! I knew I had a long ride home after breakfast so I wanted to fill up.

Lunch: Trader Joe’s Turkey burger and a side salad with blackened shrimp, cojita cheese, diced pineapple, chopped tomato and a squirt of lime. I have to say, it felt good to eat a meal cooked at home!

Snack: Apple

Dinner: Brown rice shrimp california roll.



On Friday night we did a two and a half hour walking pub crawl. We went bar-to-bar trying out the speciality drinks and learning some historic facts along the way. We even got a glimpse of the recording studio where Jimmy Buffet, Zac Brown Band, and Kenny Chesney have recorded. Our guide Brian, was awesome! He had jokes and we joked along with him all night.


Saturday night was supposed to be a booze cruise but it was unfortunately rained out. Lucky for us, after dinner at Blackfin, we stumbled across a Drag Cabaret. I highly suggest this to anyone in Key West. I have never laughed so hard. It was a great atmosphere and we stayed for two shows!


Sunday was a pool day since we finally got some sun before checking out. There’s still so much i’d love to see and do.  I’ll be back in Key West for a day trip this weekend with my fiancee to explore some more, part two, coming right up!
